Fisher Bridge Complete
Fisher Bridge Update
This year Sure-Seal Contracting was contacted by ISL Engineering & Land Services and asked about replacing a bridge that runs over the Crowsnest River, east of Lundbreck Falls.
The bridge is owned by the M.D. of Pincer Creek, who needed to replace the existing bridge as it had been closed for the last 3 years.
The single-lane bridge, which spanned almost 100 ft, went through many renditions over the years. The first bridge opened in 1909, with a second bridge installed in the 1960s. During a review it was determined that abutments on both sides had failed, as a result, the bridge was closed to motor vehicle traffic.
Algonquin Bridge
We worked with Algonquin Bridge an Ontario-based specialty company. The engineered bridge was shipped in component pieces that will be assembled on-site by our team.
We did face a few weather-related delays in getting the bridge installed over the river. We had to wait for the frost to thaw so the abutments could be installed.
Once the abutments were installed and the river shoreline secured, we moved the new bridge down the road to its new home.
You can follow along with our adventures in the video below, right from the removal of the existing bridge on the frozen river to the installation in the summer.
Over the 31,000 km of highways in Alberta, there are nearly 4600 bridges in the province. If you are a bridge owner or project manager and have a bridge that needs repair or replacement, contact Sure-Seal today at [email protected], call 403-265-8677 or complete our form on the Contact Page.
We want to send a thank you to all the staff involved in getting this bridge replacement completed. Finally, a huge shout out to Iain Munro of IHM 360 Aerial Photography / Videography for his amazing drone work compiling the video.
